Intention. Research. Care. Results. These four components are the basis of my formulating process. As you examine the ingredient list of Oleema products, you'll notice the ingredients are listed in common name form (not INCI). Why? Because we believe it's important that what you put on your skin is not only effective but easily understandable. No decoding of Latin words necessary.
Each ingredient is carefully chosen and has been time-tested for their beneficial properties and how they blend harmoniously with each other. This allows me to create the most effective, consciously crafted product possible.
Aloe Vera: Aloe vera is highly moisturizing and soothing to skin. It contains vitamin B complex, folic acid, vitamin C and carotene (a precursor of vitamin A).
Argan: This oil is considered to be one of the rarest oils in the world due its small and very specific growing area. It is produced from the kernels of the argan tree found in Morocco. Rich in vitamins A and E and packed with antioxidants, omega-6 fatty acids and linoleic acid, this oil is valued for its nutritive, cosmetic, and medicinal properties. When applied to the skin, argan oil can help to boost cell production, control sebum levels and promote healthy skin for all skin types.
Aspen Bark: This ingredient is not only a natural preservative, but also contains highly effective skin smoothing properties.
Avocado: The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents in avocado oil can help your skin stay smooth, strong, and elastic. Perfectly suited for dry skin, this oil is high in Vitamins A, B1, B2, D, E, and Beta-carotene and can aid in the protection against skin damage and replenish and heal dry and chapped skin.
Beeswax: This natural wax, produced by honeybees, not only encourages the healing of wounds, but also forms a protective barrier between skin and the environment without clogging pores. With its high levels of vitamin A, beeswax has been found to support cell health and repair.
Bergamot (Bergaptene free): This light, citrus oil has soothing, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that work well to aid in the healing of scars and blemishes, tone, soothe skin irritations and boost the overall health of your skin. In this variety, the bergaptene content, which causes photosensitivity, has been removed.
Cacao (raw): Raw cacao offers high levels of antioxidants, helping to protect and repair skin from damage and premature aging. It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory, and can soothe redness and blemishes, improving the overall complexion.
Calendula: The anti-inflammatory properties in the Calendula flower is helpful in healing inflamed and itchy skin as well as reducing the appearance of blemishes, acne. Calendula can also help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots for smoother, more even-toned and youthful skin.
Cane sugar: Sugar is a natural exfoliant and safe for sensitive skin. As a humecant, sugar draws moisture from the air to your skin and as a result it can help your skin hydrate and retain moisture. Sugar is also a natural source of glycolic acid, penetrating the skin and allowing for more cell turnover resulting in healthier looking skin.
Carrot Seed: High in antioxidants, this oil has moisture-rich properties that can rejuvenate skin, remove dullness, and promote overall skin health. The vitamins E and C contained in this oil can help moisturize the skin and protect from inflammation.
Castor: Pressed from the seeds of the castor bean plant, this oil has been used for beauty for centuries. Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which is an unsaturated omega-9 fatty acid, that can help heal inflamed skin and fight the signs of aging. It is not prone to clogging pores and can penetrate the skin deeply to cleanse the skin and fight acne-causing bacteria.
Chamomile: Well-known for its soothing nature, this oil has healing properties that are excellent for treating inflamed or irritated skin. It promotes smooth, healthy skin and can relieve irritations because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and works well to combat the signs of aging.
Cinnamon: This fragrant, warming spice helps increase circulation when applied topically. The anti-inflammatory properties of cinnamon can be great for reducing acne and blemishes. Used as a scrub or in a mask, cinnamon can feel warm on the skin and helps slough away dead skin cells, restoring glow and softness.
Cocoa Butter: High in fatty acids, this butter can hydrate and nourish the skin and improve elasticity. The high levels of fat also form a protective barrier that helps retain moisture.
Coconut Oil (virgin): This moisturizing oil is known to repair and improve the skin’s barrier function. Its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties can help combat signs of aging on skin and lips.
Evening Primrose: Rich in gamma linoleic acid and omega fatty acids, this oil moisturizes the skin and promotes skin elasticity, giving skin a rejuvenated look. It can also help treat hormonal acne because of its omega-6 fatty acids' ability to help regulate hormone levels to combat acne issues.
Frankincense: This ancient oil has a multitude of antioxidants that can improve skin elasticity, while also reducing the appearance of acne, blemishes, and scars. Frankincense can help improve skin's natural defense mechanisms, allowing it to strengthen and improve its tone while fighting against acne-causing bacteria.
French Green Clay: This clay can naturally absorb and remove impurities by pulling bacteria and toxins to the surface of the skin. Rich in minerals, it nourishes the skin helping to reveal the fresh surface of the skin and providing a healthy looking glow. French green clay dries on the skin causing pores to tighten and shrink, and helping skin feel firm, toned and refreshed.
Geranium: A powerhouse, this oil can treat acne and act as an astringent, removing daily toxins and preventing acne and blemish-causing bacteria from growing. It nourishes and hydrates, and can help control sebum production. Geranium oil can reduce the appearance of age spots and acne scars and blemishes. It can also minimize fine lines and wrinkles by tightening the skin.
Ginger: This spicy, warming oil helps comfort the skin, body and mind. As this oil warms the skin it helps promote circulation. This powerful anti-inflammatory oil can reduce redness, eliminate bacteria, inhibit the signs of skin damage and aging, and restore color and radiance to a dull complexion.
Grapeseed: An important source of antioxidants and nutrients, this oil can help protect the skin against environmental elements. The high contents of omega-6 fatty acids can help nourish and improve skin's texture. This oil's light, moisturizing character makes it easy for the skin to absorb.
Green Tea: Green tea's anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce skin irritation, skin redness, and swelling. It can also soothe minor cuts, sunburns, and irritated skin.
Hazelnut: This quickly absorbed oil is deeply penetrating, which can help tone and tighten the skin. Its astringent qualities can help balance oil production and unclog pores.
Honey: Honey is one of nature's most revered skin remedies. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic abilities, it can benefit all skin types. Honey is also a natural humectant, keeping skin moist but not oily. Oleema uses only raw, unfiltered honey containing bee pollen and more antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties than pasteurized, filtered honey.
Jasmine Butter: Made from jasmine sambac wax and non-GMO soybean oil, jasmine butter has a sweet and floral aroma. It also can encourage cell growth and increases skin elasticity, with highly moisturizing properties.
Jojoba: This non-comedogenic oil closely resembles skin's sebum and is rich in vitamins E and B, copper, and zinc, helping give skin a supple and healthy-looking complexion. Jojoba oil can also keep oil levels balanced, making it well suited for all skin types. The antioxidants present in this oil can soothe fine lines and wrinkles.
Jojoba Beads: Jojoba beads are natural, very mild and gentle exfoliant, making them ideal for all skin types, including sensitive. Made from mixture of esters from jojoba oil and hydrogenated jojoba oil, jojoba beads have a wax-like texture that functions as an excellent emollient for skin and are naturally more moisturizing than regular exfoliators, helping to maintain the skin's natural pH balance instead of stripping it from its natural oils. Their spherical shape provides safe but aggressive exfoliation that will not leave micro-lacerations on the skin like pumice or nutshell. Jojoba Beads are 100% biodegradable and made from renewable resources.
Kaolin: As a gentle cleanser and natural exfoliator, kaolin can remove impurities and dirt from skin without drying or causing irritation.
Lavender: Used since ancient times, this highly soothing and popular oil promotes healthy looking skin. Packed with antioxidants and antiseptic properties, lavender can quickly neutralize acne-causing bacteria and prevent excess sebum production.
Lemon: Lemon oil can be used for a variety of skin conditions, including acne. It can kill bacteria that may get trapped in pores and cause breakouts. It can also clarify your skin, gently exfoliating dead skin cells that become trapped in hair follicle and pores.
Lemon Balm: This herb has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which, helps reduce swelling and redness. associated with blemishes on the skin.
Leuconostoc (Radish root ferment filtrate): A natural preservative and alternative to synthetic preservatives. Derived from radishes fermented with Leuconostoc kimchii, a lactic acid bacteria that has traditionally been used to make kimchi, this product has been shown to have antimicrobial benefits.This is an accepted ECOcert ingredient in certified organic products.
Licorice Root: This root contains a compound known as glycyrrhizin which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It is used to treat skin conditions such as severe dryness and acne. As a rich source of antioxidants, it also offers help for hyperpigmentation and has anti-aging benefits.
Marshmallow Root: Packed with vitamins, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, this root is used to improve skin health. The botanical hyaluronic acid from the marshmallow plant provides moisture and helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It contains mucilage, which appears as a gel-like substance that forms a protective layer to seal in moisture. it also contains other properties that can boost skin health, such as polysaccharides and flavonoids that are associated with tissue repair.
Myrrh: This rich, spicy oil can help maintain skin health due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties as it soothes and moisturizes dry, chapped, and cracked skin.
Neroli: This exotic and intoxicating oil comes from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree. It is prized for its ability to rejuvenate skin by improving its elasticity, heal sensitive skin, and minimize the appearance of pores. It is also excellent at maintaining proper oil balance, making it ideal for all skin types.
Olive: This oil is naturally rich in vitamins A, D, K, and E and packed with anti-aging antioxidants and hydrating squalene, making it perfect for skin.
Orange (sweet): This oil has antiseptic an anti-inflammatory properties which help reduce acne and blemishes. Orange oil can also increase the ability to produce collagen, increase blood flow, and absorb vitamin C, making it a powerful anti-aging ingredient.
Palmarosa: This oil is known for its hydrating properties as well as its ability to regulate moisture and oil production, and reduce acne breakouts.
Passion Flower: Passionflower contains many antioxidants, including vitamin C and lycopene, that can help neutralize the damaging free radicals that come from the ultraviolet rays and pollution.
Peppermint Oil: Aromatically pleasing, this oil is an anti-oxidant that can have soothing and cooling effects to help freshen skin.
Pineapple Extract: Pineapple contains a powerful enzyme called bromelain, which is shown to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties as well as exfoliating properties.
Pomegranate: This oil is easily absorbed and helps moisturize deeply as well as unclog pores, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth. The omega-5 fatty acids found in this oil have anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties that can help fend off free radicals and reduce the signs of aging.
Rhassoul Clay: This reddish clay, found in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco is rich in magnesium, silica, potassium and calcium all of which can help extract impurities from skin while repairing and strengthening the skin’s barrier, and soothing irritations.
Rosehip: Considered by many to be the ultimate anti-aging oil, rosehip seed oil is rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids that can correct dark spots, acne scarring, and hydrate dry, irritated skin, all while reducing scars and fine lines. It can also tighten the skin and improve elasticity, reducing the visible signs of aging and providing a youthful look.
Rose Hydrosol: This rose scented water, created from distilling rose petals, controls and balances skin's oil production. It can also balance and restore the skin's ph levels and helps tighten pores. Additionally, it has antibacterial properties which can gently, help fight acne and blemishes.
Rosemary: This oil has been used for years to help balance skin's natural oils without causing excess dryness. It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties that can help reduce acne and clogged pores.
Sea Buckthorn: Used in many high-end skincare products, this oil is said to be one of the single highest botanical sources of vitamins C and E, unsaturated fatty acids, and essential amino acids, along with beta-carotene, making it an ideal oil for use on the skin. This oil can be used to reduce dry skin, acne, and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Shea Butter (raw): Extracted from the nuts of the Shea Tree, this butter is rich in fats which makes it an excellent emollient and moisturizing agent. It can also heal and provide relief to dry, chapped, and peeling skin. Raw Shea Butter is the butter in its purest form and has retained its vitamins, minerals, and other natural properties.
Tamanu: This soothing and powerful oil can help protect the skin’s natural moisture barrier, revitalizing and improving the texture of skin and producing healthy, clear, blemish-free skin.
Tea Tree Hydrosol: Distilled from the leaves of the tea tree plant, this hydrosol is a gentle toner and cleanser, especially effective for acne and blemishes.
Turmeric: The anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties of this oil can help reduce the signs of aging, keeping skin youthful and glowing. Great for all skin types, turmeric oil moisturizes dry skin while helping to control oil production in oily skin.
Vegetable Glycerine: This helps soothe skin irritation, protects against infection and promotes wound healing. Studies show that applying products containing glycerin may protect your skin against irritants and microbes, as well as soothe inflamed or wounded skin.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid): Vitamin C is a highly popular antioxidant that can repair damaged skin cells and and smooth fine lines by boosting collagen production, which is what provides skin its suppleness and elasticity. Vitamin C has also been shown to help reduce the appearance of age spots while providing some protection from external environmental stressors.
White Willow Bark: White willow bark contains salicin, which is converted to salicylic acid. When applied to the skin, salicylic acid helps the skin shed dead cells from the top layer, decreasing blemishes, redness and inflammation. Not only can this ingredient decreases the number of pimples that form, it also speeds their healing.
Wild Cherry Bark: this ingredient helps reduce inflammation and act as an astringent. It can also help soothe problems such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, and rashes.
Witch Hazel: Extracted from the leaves, flowers and bark of the hamamelis tree, witch hazel is one of nature's best astringents and gentle cleansers.
Ylang Ylang: This exotic and highly sought-after oil can help maintain a youthful glow and prevent signs of aging.
